Position Summary and Qualifications:
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care tailored to the specific needs of the department, adhering to the scope and standards of practice relevant to the state and specialty.
In collaboration with medical professionals and other care team members, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as 'Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.' The RN acts as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, demonstrating a commitment to the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an exceptional patient experience and clinical outcomes that enhance overall departmental performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patients.
- Ensure compliance with the Standards of Practice for the Emergency Department (ED) and manage all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.
- Engage in activities aimed at planning, measuring, assessing, and improving the quality of patient care.- Conduct triage assessments for patients seeking treatment.
- Perform venipunctures for laboratory specimen collection.
- Provide interventions in emergency, life-threatening situations.
- Assume responsibility for charging the department as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Current Texas Licensure with the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS or BLCLS) from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Certification in Advanced Life Support (ALS or ACLS) from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within six months of hire.
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within six months of hire.
- Minimum one year of experience in Emergency Services (ED) (ER) (FSED).
This position requires full vaccination for COVID-19 as mandated by local, state, and/or federal regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
