Job Title: Mechanical Engineer III

Compunnel Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer III to provide hands-on mechanical support for the installation, start-up, and debugging of high-speed cable manufacturing process equipment.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will collaborate with a multi-functional team, applying mechanical principles in mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design to ensure efficient design, production, operation, and use of machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate tasks and work plans for team members to meet customer schedules.
  • Provide hands-on input and insight into equipment installation and troubleshooting.
  • Support the start-up and qualification of manufacturing equipment.
  • Verify equipment build and layout against engineering drawings.
  • Coordinate the installation plan with safety and plant operations.
  • Collaborate with Client's engineers and vendors to resolve installation discrepancies.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices.
  • Update drawings and equipment documentation as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role, particularly in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment design, installation, start-up, and debugging.
  • Knowledge of machine guarding and safety practices and standards (OSHA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with diverse teams.
  • Capable of multitasking and working with minimal direction.
  • Familiarity with other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil, process, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with high-speed cable manufacturing equipment (jacketing, ribbon stranding, buffering) is a plus but not required.
  • Experience managing mechanical and electrical trades during equipment installation and debugging.
