Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' nutritional status and develop personalized nutrition care plans to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on healthy eating habits, nutrition-related disease management, and lifestyle modifications to support recovery and wellness.
- Documentation and Communication: Accurately document patient assessments, care plans, and progress in medical records, and communicate effectively with healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Menu Planning and Review: Review and correct patient menus as needed, and update computer systems to reflect acuity levels and nutritional care activities.
- Collaboration and Professional Development: Participate in department meetings and training sessions to stay current on best practices, and collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and expertise.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or a related field, with completion of a Coordinated Undergraduate Program, Internship Program, or other qualifying experience approved by the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
- Registration and Licensure: Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and licensure with the State of Iowa for Dietetic Practice.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
