Mobile Wastewater Treatment Specialist

SUMMARY:
The role of a Mobile Wastewater Treatment Specialist involves serving the Northern New Jersey Service Area. In this capacity, you will oversee and modify various treatment processes to ensure adherence to all permits and regulatory standards. The specialist will gather and document data and wastewater samples from designated facilities. Preventative maintenance on equipment will be performed according to the operations and maintenance manuals for the contracted sites. A valid grade S-1 wastewater treatment license is essential for this position. The ideal candidate is an independent, well-organized self-starter capable of managing their schedule to fulfill assigned site coverage responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct essential testing of facility operations, including pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc., to monitor system performance.
• Complete Discharge Monitoring Reports as mandated by facility permits.
• Execute general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment, such as blower oil changes, filter and belt replacements, and inspecting submersible pumps.
• Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and legible records of all phases of facility operations.
• Keep thorough and precise records of all equipment and plant maintenance activities.
• Assist in preparing monthly written operating reports based on the facility's operational and maintenance records for clients, employers, or regulatory agencies as required.
• Promptly inform the Supervisor of any plant issues, disturbances, expansions, repairs, etc.
• Work diligently, adhere to Environmental Health & Safety policies, and be vigilant in reporting safety hazards.
• Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation as required.
• Be prepared to discuss plant operations professionally with employers, clients, visitors, or regulatory personnel.
• Collect necessary samples, log them accurately, and submit them to the laboratory while reviewing results to ensure compliance with permits.
• Operate plants in accordance with all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities.
• Assist maintenance personnel with the removal of pumps, blowers, motors, valves, etc.
• Maintain accurate records for gasoline usage, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
• Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned routes.
• Present a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
• Confined Space Entry may be required on occasion after receiving thorough training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of wastewater experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Standard work hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (30-minute lunch).
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Overtime may be required.
• Must be available for emergency situations.
• Must be part of a 24-hour on-call rotation.
• Required certifications, licenses, and registrations include:
- Valid Driver's License.
- A New Jersey Wastewater S-1 or higher license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and utilize hand and finger dexterity.
• Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
• Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds.
• May be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.
• Occasionally exposed to loud noise and extreme temperatures.
EQUIPMENT:
• Company-issued vehicle, such as a pickup truck or van.
• Various analytical meters, including pH meters, DO meters, and composite samplers.
• Cell Phone and company-issued tablet/computer.
