Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux System Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering all Linux O/S based Azure virtual machines and serving as the Administrator of Oracle WebLogic Java Application WebLogic Server in Production and non-Production environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain Linux based servers and Oracle WebLogic Java Application servers installed on Azure Linux Virtual machines in the Microsoft Azure cloud.
  • Evaluate, implement, and oversee operating system's and application servers' updates, patches, and upgrade processes and strategies.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex solutions.
  • Coordinate activities with other technical teams and personnel as appropriate.
  • Develop and analyze highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance.
  • Maintain all server-side cloud and Security documentation to ensure compliance with the government's cyber security policy.
  • Develop strategies to manage the frequency of installations of the support package releases and patch.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure and cloud VM system maintenance and provide technical recommendations for enhancement.
  • Research current systems technologies and serve as subject matter expert on cloud integration processes and procedures.
  • Provide technical know-how to internal and external personnel on highly complex cloud system administration and installation processes.
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance to less experienced personnel.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to formulate complex technical solutions.
  • Inform stakeholders of appropriate developments in technical support products.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the baseline VM images.
  • Provide immediate response to break-fix of Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud VM assets.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration and Oracle WebLogic Java Application administration.
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux based operating systems and services from the command line.
  • Experience in supporting centralized management and automation systems using Ansible playbooks and ad-hoc commands.
  • Oracle Weblogic Java Application administration experience or IBM's WebSphere.
  • Supports the rapid improvement of reliability and consistent performance of IT Infrastructure by capturing the as-is state and prioritizing opportunities to improve.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices for Linux server security; ability to implement organizational security standards on the Linux platform.
  • Experience with automated software update mechanisms such as yum, up2date, and apt-get.
  • In-depth system administration experience and knowledge, including operating systems, hardware, and networking.
  • Thorough understanding and workings of incident handling protocols, personally identifiable information, Server network procedures, and information handling.
  • Thorough understanding and workings of cloud Server models: IaaS, PaaS, DaaS, SaaS.
  • Experience with Cloud applications Azure and AWS (mainly Azure).
  • Experience migrating existing applications to cloud.
  • Good consultative, communication, analytical, and judgement skills.
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining highly available mission critical environments, disaster recovery testing, and creating technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and accuracy; and time management and organizational skills.
