Job Summary

This is an entry-level position in the Police series, requiring attendance at an approved Police officer Standard Training (P.O.S.T.) Commission Basic Law Enforcement School, completion of required training, and receipt of peace officer certification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend the police academy and complete required training and academy courses.
  • Assist police officers with daily assignments, including ride-alongs, transmitting radio messages, retrieving and filing information, and assisting with fingerprinting.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Driver's License.
  • Ability to reside within a 60-minute drive time to Police Headquarters at 135 Commerce Street upon completion of the Field Training Program.
Working Conditions

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
