Overview of the Unit
The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) specializes in providing advanced care for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. Our dedicated nursing staff is equipped with exceptional critical thinking and assessment skills, enabling them to effectively manage patients in critical condition. The unit is staffed by Registered Nurses (RNs), Nurse Technicians (NTs), and Clinical Assistants (CAs), all working under the guidance of a Clinical Nurse Manager and an Associate Clinical Manager during off-shifts. Our team collaborates closely with Surgical/Anesthesia Intensivists, Cardiovascular Surgeons, and Advanced Practice Providers, ensuring comprehensive care around the clock.

Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) will utilize the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care, focusing on patient and family-centered principles. Key responsibilities include:

Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Nursing is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing must be obtained within five years.
- Candidates from non-accredited nursing programs must have a minimum of one year of acute care experience or two years in a licensed healthcare role, along with successful completion of the NCLEX exam.
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license is mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
