This role is pivotal in the operation, upkeep, and repair of HVAC systems within our facilities. It offers potential for advancement in engineering or facilities management. You will collaborate with a dedicated engineering team responsible for multiple properties under continuous management.

Work Schedule: On-site, Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a rotating on-call schedule for emergency situations.

Reporting Structure: Directly reports to the Chief Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

The HVAC Technician is tasked with a variety of technical responsibilities related to the inspection, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems and associated equipment. Duties include:
  • Conducting troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical systems, including complex HVAC units.
  • Performing routine preventive maintenance on various mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Managing cross-shift issues and ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Assembling, installing, and testing intricate mechanical systems and components.
  • Inspecting and repairing pumps and piping systems, including valves and fittings.
  • Analyzing heating, cooling, and humidification cycles to diagnose and rectify issues.
  • Utilizing diagnostic tools and hand instruments to identify and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Providing guidance on the safe operation of equipment to prevent hazards.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Overseeing scheduled testing and preventive maintenance of HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Performing additional tasks as directed by supervision.
Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Proficient troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • EPA Universal Certification.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for mechanical and HVAC maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Physical capability to perform strenuous tasks and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and at heights.
  • Flexibility to work different schedules, including holidays and weekends.
  • Availability to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Preferred:
  • Five years of experience in mechanical and HVAC systems in a commercial or industrial context.
  • Completion of a Technical College or Trade Program.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
