We are seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic to join our team at the City of Danville, VA. As an Industrial Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing technical work in installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of equipment at our water treatment plant, pumping stations, and elevated storage tanks.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mechanical maintenance on all water treatment plant, booster station, and tank site equipment by welding and fabricating equipment, troubleshooting mechanical failures, and performing appropriate repairs.
- Supervise and direct inmate labor crews in building and grounds maintenance work such as grass cutting, painting, and general janitorial duties.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment by using electrical testing meters, repairing electrical equipment, and submitting parts/materials orders.
- High School Diploma or GED supplemented by six months to one year of post-secondary study or training.
- Basic computer skills and Microsoft software experience.
- One to two years of job experience.
- Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
- Intermediate knowledge to perform most work in normal situations.
The work is typically performed in a plant, at tank sites, and at booster station sites, where there is daily exposure to respiratory and physical hazards, extreme temperatures, noise and vibration, and wetness and humidity.
