Position Title: Kitchen Sanitation Specialist

Division: Early Childhood Services

Supervisor: Health Services and Disability Manager

Classification: Non-Exempt

Purpose:

To execute designated kitchen responsibilities within the Early Head Start and Preschool initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure compliance with State Board of Health regulations, CACFP guidelines, and Early Head Start and Preschool standards.
  2. Distribute meals according to the established menu and schedule to meet the nutritional requirements of children, thereby supporting their readiness for school.
  3. Provide meals for parent gatherings and other events to enhance family involvement.
  4. Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and utensils after all meals and snacks.
  5. Wash, sterilize, and prepare feeding bottles for infants.
  6. Collaborate with the Health Services manager to oversee the inventory of kitchen supplies and food items.
  7. Participate in mandatory or requested CACFP, State Board of Health, and other relevant training sessions.
  8. Complete necessary documentation promptly.
  9. Adhere to health regulations, including submitting proof of an annual physical within 30 days of employment and every five years thereafter, along with an annual TB test.

Additional Duties:

  1. Ability to endure frequent standing, walking, bending, and crouching.
  2. Capable of lifting, carrying, and moving items weighing between 5-20 pounds.
  3. Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by Developmental Services, Inc. and the Early Head Start and Preschool programs.

Qualifications:

  1. Ability to read, write, and perform basic calculations; a high school diploma is preferred.
  2. Two years of experience in a food preparation setting.
  3. Serve Safe Certification is preferred.
  4. General understanding of child development, nutrition, health, and safety.
  5. A valid driver's license is preferred, along with insurance on a personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with Medical liability coverage), and the ability to maintain insurability as defined by the agency's liability insurance provider.
