Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the Hawaii State Department of Education. The successful candidate will provide paraprofessional support to students, teachers, and staff, and contribute to the delivery of educational and behavioral interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic and non-academic instructional support to students in a classroom setting, including tasks such as preparing materials, assisting with lessons, and supervising students.
  • Assist teachers and special education staff in the delivery of educational and behavioral interventions, including developing and implementing individualized education plans.
  • Provide support services to students with disabilities, including academic, social, vocational, and daily living instruction.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement strategies to support student learning and behavior.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including student progress and behavior data.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • One year of experience working with students, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds and/or lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Valid driver's license required for some positions.
