About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Watershed Plant Operator Class II to join our team at the City of Atlanta. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our wastewater treatment processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and Maintain Wastewater Treatment Processes: Ensure continuous, economical, and EPA-compliant operation of the wastewater treatment facility and its processes.
  • Monitor and Troubleshoot Equipment: Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions to prevent violations and maintain receiving waters safety.
  • Train and Mentor Colleagues: Provide guidance and training to lower-level associates, interns, and temporary employees on wastewater treatment processes and equipment operation.
  • Work Rotating Shifts and Stand-by Service: Be available to work rotating shifts and stand-by service to address operational needs and emergencies.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and 1-2 years of work experience in a wastewater plant or related area.
  • Licensures and Certifications: Valid State of Georgia Driver's License and Class II Wastewater License required.
  • Physical and Sensory Capabilities: Meet the required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities to perform the job successfully.
