Developmental Disability Specialist

At The Arc of Central Alabama, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Qualified Developmental Disability Professional to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live their most independent and fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities:- Person-Centered Planning: Participate in the Person-Centered Planning Process, conducting pre-meetings and POM interviews to ensure individualized support and care.
- Meetings and Documentation: Attend person-centered meetings, special team meetings, and complete monthly progress notes to track individual progress and goals.
- Assessments: Conduct annual assessments, consents, and releases to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
- Training Objectives: Develop quality day and/or residential training objectives for individuals served, promoting skill-building and independence.
- Documentation: File PCPs and supporting documents in the person-served residential binder, maintaining accurate and organized records.
- Observation: Observe staff training with individuals served, ensuring effective and supportive interactions.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall success of our organization.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a Human Services related field is required.
- Experience: Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred.
- Skills: Knowledge of mental health terminology, behavioral challenges, and diagnoses impacting the IDD population is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word is also required.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration and documentation.
- Requirements: Ability to pass pre-employment screening (drug, background, MVR) is mandatory.
