Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at The Arc Otsego. As a Residential RN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary nursing duties as directed by medical orders, regulations, and agency policies.
  • Assist other primary nurses in carrying out medical orders when they are not available.
  • Complete required documentation on a timely basis, including t-logs, GER reviews, and annual nursing assessments.
  • Accompany individuals to medical, specialty, and dental appointments as indicated.
  • Assure medication reviews are completed every 6 months for individuals we serve.
  • Provide ongoing staff training for health and wellness issues as needed.
  • Assure we have current medical orders for any medications being given, and treatments provided.
  • Provide emergency first aid and triage when needed.
  • Share Telephone Triage/OCN rotation and complete documentation regarding calls.
  • Complete TB assessments annually for individuals with a PPD status, or exempt from having TSTs.
  • Complete annual Diabetes In-service and provide proof of update.
  • Maintain own CPR recertification.
  • Meet regularly with residential team members.
Requirements
  • Current licensure in New York as an RN is required.
  • Valid New York State driver's license and a home telephone number are also required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, consumers, and the general public.
Work Environment

The work environment is typically moderate, with occasional exposure to noise and stress.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in a situation where only limited standardization exists.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Education and/or Experience

Current licensure in New York as an RN is required.
