Position Overview

The FSQA Supervisor is accountable for overseeing all operations of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance department technicians. This role encompasses the management of food safety initiatives, adherence to specifications, and assurance of product quality within the designated facility and shift.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are essential to the role:

  • Ensure compliance of FSQA team members with all safety regulations and procedures, including Lock Out Tag Out protocols during sanitation inspections of equipment.
  • Facilitate training and development for hourly FSQA team members, enforcing company policies through effective coaching, verification, and accountability.
  • Conduct routine audits to verify compliance with regulatory standards, customer requirements, and Peco FSQA policies, including necessary documentation such as HACCP and GMP programs.
  • Confirm that finished products meet customer and Peco specifications; routinely verify sampling procedures to maintain accuracy and consistency in accordance with customer and Peco standards. Ensure all data is accurately entered into data collection systems as per customer specifications.
  • Address product issues and audit findings as directed by the FSQA Manager.
  • Validate the pre-operational program through organoleptic and surface ATP or APC sampling, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented for non-compliance with plant SSOP procedures. Provide feedback and reporting to plant management.
  • Engage in facility audits and best practices for foreign material prevention.
  • Ensure that the test kitchen on the assigned shift conducts cook-offs and other testing at specified frequencies, documenting results as required. Perform daily sensory evaluations of produced products with documented outcomes.
  • Manage the Hold and Release program for the assigned shift, including status updates to the FSQA Manager.
  • Participate in cross-functional improvement teams as requested by the FSQA Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the FSQA Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree or higher in food safety, animal science, natural science, or a related technical field, or equivalent job experience is essential.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in standard computer applications is required, including spreadsheet generation and data collection system usage for report creation.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary, demonstrating the ability to effectively correspond with all organizational levels and USDA representatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous industry experience to understand regulatory, production, and manufacturing concepts is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FDA and USDA regulated products.
  • HACCP certification and experience with GFSI standards are advantageous.
