About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist II to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our Operating Room team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Prepare the operating room for each procedure, including setting up equipment, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring a safe and efficient environment for the surgical team.
  • Assisting Surgeons: Assist surgeons during procedures, including passing instruments, suturing, and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Equipment Management: Manage and maintain equipment, including sterilizing and repairing instruments, and ensuring that all necessary equipment is available for each procedure.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure a smooth and efficient procedure.
  • Patient Care: Provide high-quality patient care, including positioning patients, transporting them to and from the operating room, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
  • Experience: Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Surgical Technologist position.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to blood and body fluids, and the need to lift and move patients and equipment. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly and effectively, and maintain a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
