Electrical Systems Technician

At Roanoke College, we are committed to creating a safe and productive environment for our students and staff. We are currently seeking a motivated electrical helper to assist in maintaining and improving our electrical systems.
You will have the opportunity to work with experienced electricians and contribute to the efficient operation of electrical systems throughout the college. Roanoke College provides uniforms, tools, safety equipment, and lunch each day. This position is eligible for full college benefits and works a core schedule of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Helping in diagnosing electrical problems and participating in troubleshooting.
- Assisting with routine inspections and electrical system checks.
- Safely and effectively using tools and equipment.
- Learning and following electrical codes and standards.
- Maintaining accurate records of work performed.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining electrical systems.
- Support the installation and maintenance of lighting, wiring, and electrical devices.
- Help with safety checks and inspections of electrical equipment.
- Participate in electrical projects, including wiring and panel installations.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure work is performed efficiently and safely.
Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
- A strong work ethic, a desire to learn, and the ability to follow directions.
- Good physical condition to perform tasks that may require lifting and working in various conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A valid Virginia driver's license and near clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends for on-call rotations.
