Safety Professional Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Safety Intern to join our team at True North Equipment. As a Safety Intern, you will play a critical role in supporting our safety programs and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
- Help manage and organize safety records, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with relevant regulations.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and summaries related to safety metrics and compliance.
- Develop and maintain a checklist to track employee participation in safety training programs.
- Assist in scheduling and coordinating safety training sessions, including logistics and communication with participants.
- Monitor training completion rates and follow up with employees and managers to ensure compliance with training requirements.
- Conduct research and gather data on industry best practices and regulatory updates to support continuous improvement of safety programs.
- Assist with the implementation of new safety initiatives, including risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Participate in safety audits and inspections, providing support with documentation and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Help create and distribute safety-related communications, such as newsletters, safety alerts, and posters.
- Assist in organizing safety committee meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
- Support the development of employee engagement programs to promote a safety-first culture across all locations.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data entry and report generation.
- A keen interest in workplace safety and a commitment to promoting a safe work environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean MVR.
- Normal business hours are Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. The Safety Intern position allows for flexible and variable hours, based on your availability.
