The esteemed School of Motion Pictures & Television at Academy of Art University is in search of a qualified Part-Time Educator to instruct on the nuances of Film Editing. This position requires on-campus presence in a collaborative educational atmosphere. Interested candidates should prepare a comprehensive resume and a portfolio showcasing their work.
Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, with certification mandatory.
- Experience in higher education is advantageous.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee all facets of teaching assigned courses, which includes: class preparation, adherence to the syllabus, student communication, evaluation of student submissions, and maintaining accurate records of student progress.
- Possess a deep understanding of course content, including assignments and learning outcomes, and utilize effective teaching strategies suitable for various modalities (in-person/online).
- Encourage active participation and engagement in class discussions, providing constructive feedback on student work that highlights strengths and areas for improvement.
- Evaluate student performance based on established grading criteria and provide professional feedback to aid in their development.
- Ensure timely submission of all grades and feedback for assignments.
- Maintain communication with students regarding attendance and provide support for those who may be struggling.
- Adhere to university guidelines for virtual class meetings and ensure resources are accessible to students.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Department Director, which may include workshops and portfolio assessments.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance student learning experiences.
- Stay informed about industry trends and maintain professional relationships within the field.
Compensation:
Compensation begins at $70.00 per hour for teaching responsibilities and $18.67 per hour for non-teaching duties.
