Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) operates seven manufacturing facilities across the Midwest, producing a significant portion of the nation’s American-type cheese, processed cheese, and butter. Internship Overview

This internship is tailored for candidates interested in gaining practical experience in a role that could lead to a full-time position in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). Participants in the DoD SkillBridge program will continue to receive military compensation and benefits as they are active-duty service members.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties outline the essential functions of this internship, though additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary:

• Report any safety, food safety, and quality issues to appropriate personnel.
• Support food safety and quality initiatives with heightened responsibilities.
• Assist in training and enforcing safety programs and policies.
• Administer training programs that align with OSHA regulations.
• Manage industrial hygiene programs, including medical testing and monitoring of contaminants.
• Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Document and record EHS monitoring activities, including environmental sampling.
• Implement the company’s drug and alcohol testing program in accordance with legal requirements.
• Conduct EHS compliance inspections and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
• Utilize knowledge of safety protocols to manage various safety programs.
• Promote safety awareness through internal communications and training initiatives.
• Collaborate with maintenance and quality assurance teams to enhance safety measures.
• Identify potential hazards through facility audits and safety equipment assessments.
• Manage driver files and documentation related to DOT regulations.
• Analyze safety metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Monitor workers' compensation claims and ensure thorough investigations are conducted.
• Maintain accurate records for OSHA and environmental compliance.
• Encourage effective communication regarding safety among all employees.
