Job Summary

At Blue Origin, we're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. As a Structural & Mechanical Systems Engineer I, you'll play a critical role in designing, installing, modifying, analyzing, repairing, and testing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. You'll also be responsible for developing, releasing, and supporting engineering artifacts across the development cycle to support hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, test, and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Applies standard engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
  • Develops, releases, and supports engineering artifacts across the development cycle to support hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, test, and operations.
  • Implements operating procedures, resolves system malfunctions, and provides technical information.
  • Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Specifies system components or directs modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations.

Requirements
  • Successfully completed an internship with Blue Origin in 2024.
  • Enrolled or recently graduating student attending a college or university.
  • Able to start working full-time on or before September of 2025.
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics, or similar discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
  • Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
