Job Summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Donation Attendant to join our team. As a key member of our donation processing team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate sorting of donations, while providing exceptional customer service to our donors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Donation Sorting and Processing: Accurately sort and process donations in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that all items are properly categorized and labeled.
  • Customer Service: Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient service to all customers, including donors, internal staff, and external partners.
  • Trailers and Equipment: Safely and efficiently load trailers, ensuring that all equipment is properly secured and maintained.
  • Work Environment: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring a safe and healthy workspace for associates and customers.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure the security of company assets and immediately report any known or suspected security and/or theft problems.
  • Communication: Communicate directly and consistently with supervisors, relating problems with the donation area and customers.
  • Personal Conduct: Set a positive public image by adhering to the dress code and personal hygiene standards set forth by Goodwill.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: No previous experience required.
  • Certifications: No professional certifications are required for this position.
  • Background Check: The associate will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Work Conditions
  • Lifting and Carrying: The associate is required to lift up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Work Environment: The associate works in a moderate work environment with occasional exposure to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.).
  • Availability: The associate must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate.
