Job Summary

The Home Health Aide is a vital member of our home care team, working under the supervision of a registered nurse or therapist to provide personal care services to patients in their homes. This role requires a high level of empathy, self-direction, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on personal care, including bathing, back rubs, oral hygiene, and skin care.
  • Assist patients with dressing, undressing, and toileting activities.
  • Keep patient living areas clean and orderly.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals, assist with feeding, and take vital signs as ordered.
  • Assist with ambulation, exercise, and range of motion as part of the care plan.
  • Perform simple procedures as an extension of nursing services, such as taking temperatures and blood pressure.
  • Assist patients with self-administration of medication.
  • Meet safety needs of patients and use equipment safely and properly.
  • Report patient condition and significant changes to the assigned nurse.
Requirements
  • Meet training requirements and successfully complete a competency evaluation program.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
  • Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail, and impaired.
  • Possess and maintain current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrate tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
  • Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with Organization requirements and is in good working order.
Job Limitations

The Home Health Aide will not function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the state's Nurse Practice Act. Specifically, the Home Health Aide will not administer medications, take physician's orders, or perform procedures requiring the training, knowledge, and skill of a nurse.
