Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pre-Admission Nurse to join our team at USPI. As a Pre-Admission Nurse, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth transition of patients through our ambulatory surgery center. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct thorough verbal assessments with patients prior to admission, gathering essential medical history and integrating it into our web-based patient medical portal.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform verbal assessments with patients to gather medical history and integrate it into our patient portal.
  2. Collaborate with surgeons' offices and anesthesia groups to coordinate patient needs prior to surgery.
  3. Ensure pre-operative care requirements are met through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  4. Provide patient education and teaching as established by the department.
  5. Maintain and promote patient safety by assessing physical and psychological needs.
  6. Respond to telephone inquiries and provide general health information.
  7. Document all call encounters using manual and/or online information systems.
  8. Alert anesthesia/surgeon of results of labs, physical assessment, or special needs of individual with medical problems prior to surgery.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Ambulatory Surgery Center or Pre-op or Pre-Admission Testing department.
  • State of Texas RN licensure and BLS certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment with little supervision.
