The **Aircraft Mechanic II** is responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. Key responsibilities include:

Maintenance and Repair:

  • Maintains and repairs aircraft components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies and components, such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls, and their components.

Technical Expertise:

  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions.
  • Applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
  • Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation, such as aircraft technical manuals, maintenance information, blueprints, or manufacturer's manuals, and action messages.

Safety and Maintenance:

  • Safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
  • Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
  • Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.

Requirements:

  • Required three years aviation maintenance experience, three years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
  • Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory and thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools, such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lifts objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance and US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.

Working Environment:

  • Work is performed in an Aircraft maintenance hangar that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
  • Work could be performed outside as well.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required.
