Aircraft Technician Role Summary

The Aircraft Technician is responsible for adjusting, repairing, and/or replacing electrical wiring and aircraft system avionics. This role involves maintaining and repairing aircraft components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
  • Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions
  • Apply required expertise in restoring equipment condition and/or operation
  • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturers manuals
  • Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft and verify the work was performed satisfactorily
  • Service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition
  • May specialize in work, repair, and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies
  • May specialize in engine repair
  • May be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records
  • Prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects
  • Receive technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician
  • Occasionally lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks
  • May be required to troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems to ensure aircraft remains in safe operating condition
  • Perform other duties as requested

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of aircraft avionics systems, troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools
  • Working knowledge of avionics systems, including maintenance parameters, systems operations, limitations, and technical orders
  • Knowledge of military publications (including electronic manuals), drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams, and schematics is mandatory
  • Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus
  • Is required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
  • Required three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS)
  • All experience must be within the six most recent years
  • A valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required
  • All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA-certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements
  • Must provide own tools/toolbox
  • Tools must be shadowed and PID etched in each tool
  • Valid Drivers License
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility
