Job Overview

Position Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in ensuring that products are dispatched and received in accordance with customer specifications. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Shipping Duties:
    1. Generate packing lists and bills of lading for shipments.
    2. Organize and maintain packing documentation to ensure a seamless shipping process.
    3. Implement a tracking system for finished products in the yard.
    4. Keep the dock area organized and free of clutter.
    5. Assist in coordinating the final stages of production.
    6. Manage shipment transactions effectively.
    7. Digitally scan and upload bills of lading to the corresponding job records.
    8. Systematically file bills of lading by date.
  2. Receiving Duties:
    1. Operate forklifts to load and unload materials.
    2. Utilize tools such as nail guns and chop saws to construct shipping crates.
  3. Equipment Operation: Safely operate various tools in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards, including:
    1. Metal Shear
    2. Metal Brake
    3. Radial Saws
    4. Iron Worker
    5. Torch and Plasma Torch
    6. Overhead Cranes
    7. Other Hand Tools
  4. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring tools and machinery are in good working order.
  5. Verify that workpieces meet specifications using measuring tools.
  6. Complete special projects as assigned by management.
  7. Adhere to safety regulations to protect all employees, including:
    1. Following all safety procedures related to driving and production areas.
    2. Reviewing safety materials provided by the company.
    3. Reporting any safety concerns to management.
  8. Ensure personal and team safety through proper equipment usage and workspace maintenance.
  9. Perform additional duties as required.

Required Skills:

  1. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  2. Detail-oriented and organized.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  4. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  5. Basic mechanical skills and mathematical proficiency.
  6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  7. Knowledge of carpentry and packing procedures.

Work Environment: The role involves exposure to various environmental factors, including noise and mechanical vibrations. Hearing protection and safety eyewear are mandatory.

Physical Requirements: The job requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting up to 70 lbs, and using power tools.

Education:

  1. High school diploma or GED is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Technical training or certification is a plus.

Knowledge Requirements:

  1. Experience with operating shears and brakes.
  2. Forklift certification.
  3. Familiarity with general construction methods and hand tools.
