What are we looking for in our Quality Control Specialist?


Russell Tobin & Associates is collaborating with a leading biotechnology firm to find a Quality Control Specialist.

This role is primarily focused on the assessment, removal, and proper disposal of all plasma units identified as unsuitable. The specialist will oversee daily operations at the Plasma Logistics Center, including shipment approvals, temperature monitoring, compliance training, and handling specific product requests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the handling of non-compliant units, including the application of labels and overlays.
  • Prepare reports concerning the status of unsuitable units.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications during handling.
  • Oversee the shipment of units designated for disposal, adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Maintain documentation proving the destruction of these units.
  • Review and authorize outgoing plasma shipments.
  • Close inbound shipments once all products are accounted for in the system.
  • Utilize system functions appropriately for all quality-related tasks.
  • Conduct periodic temperature checks and calibrations as per established procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks such as safety inspections, unit relabeling, and pest control service evaluations.
  • Ensure the Learning Management System is maintained for data accuracy, report generation, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee training delivery, including onboarding and annual retraining, to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Address special requests, including laboratory needs and third-party shipments.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal teams and external partners.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies.
  • Identify and report any issues or non-conformities that may affect product safety and quality.
  • Investigate incidents using the designated software system.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support operational needs.
  • Operate a forklift (training provided).

Qualifications:

  • Background in Computer Science.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Celery, Go, and others.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies.
  • Proficient programming skills, including knowledge of software engineering best practices.
  • Experience in REST/API development.
  • Solid experience with scripting languages and Linux environments.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly MySQL and Elasticsearch.
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience in RESTful API consumption.
  • Ability to make impactful decisions and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution with internal stakeholders.
