Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing indirect and direct patient care activities, supporting all disciplines within the department to deliver safe patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the basic delivery of patient care as assigned/directed by licensed professional personnel.
  • Complete assigned tasks/orders from providers.
  • Demonstrate competency during intake process, inclusive of accurate vital signs.
  • May be asked to demonstrate competency in phlebotomy skills, simple medication or vaccine administration, spirometry testing, and performing radiographs under the direction of a physician.
  • Utilize proficient organization and communication skills in prioritizing, delivering, and documenting patient care.
  • Perform multiple, concurrent tasks in frequently stressful and fast-paced environment while maintaining strong internal and external customer service standards.
  • Serve as liaison between patients/families and department staff by greeting patients/families, informing families of delays, relaying messages, and offering assistance/other services families may require.
  • Perform administrative duties to promote efficient operations, including participating in office opening/closing procedures, answering phones, maintaining waiting room/patient diversion materials, restocking complimentary beverages, and updating wait-time boards.
Requirements
  • 1 year of experience in the role of medical assistant, patient care tech or equivalent or have completed Medical Assistant Externship at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 1 year experience in pediatrics, including obtaining vitals, assisting clinical staff with patient care, phlebotomy, and specimen collection procedures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a medical assistant training program from an accredited school or emergency medical technician or hospital or physician office-based training as a patient care technician or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment.
