Veterans Health Administration - Social Worker Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical social work services to veterans and their families, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions to address a range of mental health concerns, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs and goals of each veteran.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and primary care physicians, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Provide education and support to veterans and their families on topics such as coping skills, stress management, and community resources.


Requirements:
  • Master's degree in social work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)-accredited program.
  • Licensure as a clinical social worker in the state of Montana.
  • At least two years of post-MSW experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a VA or other healthcare organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with veterans, families, and other healthcare professionals.
