Job Summary

Zimmer Biomet is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join our team. As a key member of our Extremities Operations team, you will provide manufacturing engineering support for process and work center optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve controlled technical documents, including prints, procedures, bill of materials, and routers.
  • Support a wide range of processing applications, including machining, finishing, cleaning, laser etching, wire EDM, shot blasting, and polishing.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to estimate product cost and analyze capital equipment, capacity, and capability requirements.
  • Improve process methods to meet performance and quality requirements.
  • Execute project plans and schedules for work activities.
  • Communicate effectively with personnel from other departments.
  • Evaluate multiple options to select the most appropriate processes and machining methods.
  • Execute equipment qualification or process validation projects.
Requirements
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to balance quality, compliance, and safety to meet customer requirements.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple medium-complexity project assignments and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Good problem-solving skills through the use of quality and statistical tools.
  • Ability to effectively work within a cross-functional team to complete critical project tasks.
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Project.
  • Yellow belt training.
  • 3-D printing knowledge and advanced software such as Pro-E and CREO.
  • CAPA knowledge and the process to complete per FDA guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Actively enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Experience working with layout design and 3D modeling, as well as process improvement work using the DMIAC model.
