Compensation: $23-24/hr based on experience and credentials.

Job Summary: The Certified Animal Care Technician plays a pivotal role in leading and training the medical support team in the operations of a small animal facility, adhering to hospital policies and procedures while delivering medical care to patients as permitted by the veterinary practice act. The technician must communicate effectively with both team members and clients, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide support staff to ensure smooth shift operations.
  • Provide feedback to the hospital manager for comprehensive employee performance evaluations.
  • Administer patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients.
  • Accurately document all relevant medical, client, and case-related information in patient records.
  • Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.
  • Address client inquiries regarding basic animal care and routine procedures, directing medical questions to veterinarians when necessary.

Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Some experience in the veterinary field is required.
  • Proficiency in a variety of skills, including laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.
  • Ability to remain patient and composed in high-pressure situations, managing a fast-paced environment effectively.
  • Capability to stay calm and efficient during medical emergencies.
  • Skill in administering SQ, IM, and IV injections.
  • Knowledge of common prescription medications, including usage, dosage, and side effects, with the ability to explain these to clients.
