About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Product Designer to join our dynamic Product Design team at Esri. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering products that meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough user research to understand product needs and integrate insights into new component and feature enhancements.
  • Lead design review sessions with Calcite team members and stakeholders to incorporate feedback into your work.
  • Take a central role in educating over 50+ Esri product teams on Calcite standards, delivering presentations, demos, and participating in Design Office Hours.
  • Serve as a primary liaison, cultivating strong relationships with Esri product teams and collaborating to ensure smooth integration and consistent application of Calcite components.
  • Contribute to the architecture and continuous improvement of the Calcite Figma environment, working closely with fellow designers and front-end engineers.
  • Collaborate with internal accessibility resources to ensure adherence to WCAG and other industry standards within the Calcite Design System.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience designing and delivering products for both web and mobile platforms.
  • Showcase a portfolio illustrating successful management of design systems, highlighting expertise in this area.
  • Extensive experience and deep understanding of adhering to WCAG 2.0/Section 508 Compliance and other industry guidelines, ensuring inclusive design practices.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops and present to large audiences, effectively communicating design concepts and ideas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and advocacy for leveraging innovative design and front-end practices to drive excellence.
  • Experience using Figma, Figma UI Kits, adhering to established pattern libraries and required frameworks.
  • Bachelor's in human-computer interaction, user experience, interaction design, applied social science, or a related field.
