Job Title: School Counselor

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated School Counselor to join our team at Santa Fe Public Schools. As a School Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, personal, and social growth of our students.

Job Summary:

The School Counselor will develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that aligns with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. This program will focus on academic, career, and personal/social guidance, with a goal of promoting student success and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement a data-driven comprehensive school counseling program that reflects the district and school site mission and goals.
  2. Provide academic, career, and personal/social guidance to students, integrating the ASCA National Model.
  3. Deliver classroom guidance lessons that align with the ASCA National Standards, including wellness topics and issues related to student success and achievement.
  4. Refer students, as needed, to district and community resources in consultation with their parents/guardians.
  5. Assist with problem-solving on student needs, attend parent/teacher conferences, and review student cumulative files when needed.
  6. Uphold and enforce Santa Fe Public Schools Code of Conduct, administrative directives, and regulations.
  7. Meet district requirements for data-driven decision making and accountability.
  8. Actively participate in and responsible for own professional growth, maintaining current New Mexico School Counselor license and professional membership in the American School Counselor Association or New Mexico School Counselor Association.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Counseling with 15 graduate hours in School Counseling.
  • Current School Counselor License from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
  • Working Knowledge of ASCA National Model.
  • Ability to exercise effective communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
  • Flexibility and excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is based on education, experience, and level of NM License. Tier 2 License: $50,000+. Tier 3 License: $60,000+.

Working Conditions:

The School Counselor will work in a moderate noise level environment, occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, and required to travel to other facilities within the District.
