Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Collision Damage Estimator to join our team at Sonic Automotive. As a key member of our collision repair center, you will be responsible for appraising vehicle damage and determining the cost of repair for insurance claim settlement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine damaged vehicles to determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage.
  • Estimate the cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
  • Review repair cost estimates with our body shop manager or foreman.
  • In the event of a disagreement, arrange for an independent appraisal to resolve the situation.
  • Determine the feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors.
  • Evaluate the practicality of repair versus payment of vehicle market value before the accident.
  • Determine the salvage value on total vehicle loss.
  • Prepare insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations.
  • Estimate the cost of repainting, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures, and report any accidents to a manager or supervisor.
