Job Summary:

The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer will provide expert assistance in the design, configuration, installation, deployment, administration, and troubleshooting of VMware products and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance, expertise, suggestions, and recommendations for the design, configuration, installation, deployment, administration, and troubleshooting of VMware products and services.
  • Manage and maintain VMware technologies, including Horizon View, User Environment Manager (UEM), Workspace ONE, ThinApp, and App Volumes.
  • Support operational aspects of Windows system administration within the End-User Computing (EUC) space, including Windows Server and Windows Desktop Operating systems.
  • Deploy and maintain secure desktop images in VMware virtual desktop infrastructure in accordance with policies and industry standards.
  • Centrally store, manage, and maintain user preferences and data.
  • Manage and maintain VMware App Volumes managers, databases, App Stacks, and writable volumes.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to create time-sensitive deliverables and lead project teams within the assigned unit.
  • Participate in preparing materials and delivering oral presentations for customers and management.
  • Respond promptly to incidents in ServiceNow and resolve advanced technical issues in the environment.
  • Diagnose and repair system problems, working closely with vendor support for servers, software, and other hardware.
  • Define, monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot the performance of all EUC systems.
  • Support UCO / Aria Automation and perform certificate lifecycle management for systems and applications.
  • Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash, and other scripting languages.
Required Skills and Expertise:
  • Extensive experience with VMware technologies, including but not limited to Horizon View, User Environment Manager (UEM), Workspace ONE, ThinApp, and App Volumes.
  • Strong scripting skills in one or more languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Windows system administration, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy.
  • Experience with storage protocols and data center networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL Server and MS Windows operating systems.
  • Experience in hardening and improving the security of Windows operating systems and hardware platforms.
  • Ability to develop and maintain IT documentation and provide training to less experienced team members.
Preferred Experience and Certifications:
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience supporting virtualization technologies.
  • A current VMware Certification (VCP, preferably VCP6-DTM, VCP7-DTM, VCAP6-DTM, or VCAP7-DTM), Nutanix (NCP), or similar server virtualization certifications.
  • Experience working in a large enterprise environment with a strong background in Desktop Virtualization (VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Citrix, Microsoft RDS).
  • Knowledge of SAN protocols and management, MSI, and Windows Installer technologies for creating ThinApps and App Stacks.
Educational Requirements:

A degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field is preferred. If the candidate does not have a relevant college degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
