Mountain View, Arkansas, United States Waymo Full time

Waymo is a pioneering company in autonomous driving technology, dedicated to becoming the most reliable driver. Originating from the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has concentrated on developing the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced DriverTM—to enhance mobility access while significantly reducing traffic-related fatalities. The Waymo Driver is the backbone of Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and is adaptable to various vehicle platforms and applications. With over one million rider-only trips facilitated, the Waymo Driver has accumulated extensive experience through millions of miles driven autonomously on public roads and billions in simulation across more than 13 U.S. states.

Our Compute Team is on a vital and thrilling mission: we provide the computing platform that operates the software stack of autonomous vehicles. To fulfill this mission, we design and produce high-performance custom silicon; we develop system-level compute architectures that push the limits of performance, power efficiency, and latency; and we collaborate with numerous teams to ensure the design and enhancement of hardware and software for optimal performance. We are a diverse group seeking inquisitive and skilled individuals to contribute to one of the highest-performing automotive compute platforms globally.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test plans for silicon bring-up, validation, and characterization.
  • Work closely with chip design, design verification, emulation, and software teams to prepare for silicon arrival.
  • Engage in hands-on bring-up and validation in the laboratory; drive test execution to completion with cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct functional validation of subsystems and intellectual property such as PCIe, LPDDR, MIPI, etc.
  • Lead silicon debugging efforts, providing root-cause analysis and driving closure.
  • Assist in the development of ATE and SLT, overseeing hardware deployment and software integration for SLT.
Your Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Over 5 years of practical experience in silicon bring-up and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of digital integrated circuits and chip architecture.
  • Proficient with laboratory equipment and debugging tools, including oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, JTAG debuggers, etc.
  • Good scripting skills (preferably Python) for test automation, data collection, post-processing, and reporting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional and cross-site teams, with strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience leading post-silicon projects, including planning, execution, and team coordination.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining silicon validation infrastructure, including test benches, automation frameworks, and data analysis tools.
  • Background in pre-silicon design validation or emulation; leveraging pre-silicon test cases for post-silicon validation.
  • Experience in electrical validation and compliance testing of high-speed SerDes or memory interfaces.
