WORK SCHEDULE:
Full-time position requiring 8-hour shifts, 5 days a week, with operational hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, not exceeding 40 hours weekly.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Possess a medical or technical background acquired through formal education or practical training in the pharmaceutical sector, along with a high school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in computer operations and typing is essential.A minimum of one year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required, or possession of a Pharmacy Technician training certificate.
Completion of college-level coursework in sciences and mathematics is preferred.Experience in correctional settings is advantageous but not mandatory.
Must provide valid CPR certification.
Recent testing for immunity to Tuberculosis or other communicable diseases is required.
To be considered for this role, candidates must submit a current resume along with photocopies of educational and training credentials.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accurately reading and interpreting prescriptions and medication orders from healthcare professionals, selecting and retrieving medications of appropriate strength and dosage as prescribed, and transcribing prescription information onto labels using typewriters or computer systems.
Providing relevant patient instructions when necessary.
While not authorized to fill or manage DEA controlled substances, the Pharmacy Technician will oversee all pill lines following proper orientation by the Pharmacist.
Assist the Pharmacist in ensuring that only medications listed in the approved formulary are dispensed and facilitate the initiation and submission of requests for non-formulary medications to the Pharmacist for approval.
Maintain adequate inventories of all medications and medical supplies, prepare necessary documentation for inventory replenishment, and keep an expiration date log to ensure that no outdated or expired stock remains in inventory.
Contribute to updating patient education materials, assist in enhancing performance studies, and support the Pharmacist in adhering to policy guidelines.
Prepare recommended supply lists for pharmaceutical orders.Ensure that pharmacy areas are kept clean and organized.
Maintain stock of essential forms utilized within the pharmacy department.
In the absence of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will oversee pharmacy operations, adhering to guidelines governing their responsibilities.
All prescriptions must be reviewed by a Pharmacist before being dispensed to the inmate population.Should demonstrate the ability to accurately input a minimum of 25 prescriptions per hour.
