Technical Staff Software Engineering Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Staff Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering team in Austin, Texas. Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal partners to architect new and innovative experiences spanning firmware, software, and hardware for our client platforms.
  • Provide technical expertise in decisions when collaborating across multiple lines of business, including industrial design, marketing, usability, quality, and reliability.
  • Create, design, and review architectural collateral, documenting the scope of our firmware features.
  • Prototype potential solutions to comprehend feasibility and gather business requirements to drive product definition and prioritization for firmware features.
  • Influence the hardware and software direction for features that span beyond firmware and generate intellectual property to protect innovations.
  • Balance short-term versus long-term actions, strategic versus tactical requirements, while continuing to align the architectural roadmap to achieve the strategic vision.
  • Assess and optimize program tradeoffs such as cost, performance, quality, and schedule, while making the proper feature tradeoffs between firmware, electrical, power, and thermal requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a similar field, with 15+ years of industry experience.
  • UEFI BIOS and/or Embedded Controller development experience with Intel and/or AMD x86, and ARM system architectures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and experience in presenting to business and technical teams in an effective and persuasive manner.
  • Strong leadership skills, system-level architecture experience for both hardware and firmware, and familiarity with various hardware bus interfaces such as PCI, SMBUS, USB Type C, LPC, I2C, etc.
  • Strong programming experience using languages such as C, C++, or C# and strong architecture and design skills.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Experience using analyzers and other hardware tools to debug complex system software issues.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
Compensation and Benefits:

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $215,000 - $278,000. As a Dell Technologies team member, you will also have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
