Lead Mechanical Project Engineer

Work Schedule: 9/80 (every other Friday off)
Assignment Duration: 12 months+

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple projects while ensuring timely delivery of project outcomes within budget constraints.
- Collaborate with the internal piping and mechanical design team to develop project designs. Review piping and mechanical packages from external engineering firms.
- Execute all facets of piping and mechanical engineering, leveraging a strong grasp of engineering principles and advanced methodologies.
- Oversee the creation of design documentation and construction drawings, ensuring accuracy from initial design through to construction issuance.
- Conduct project cost estimations and reviews.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of piping and engineering standards.
- Provide construction support, including bid assessments, submittal evaluations, responding to requests for information (RFIs), field support, final inspections, and the creation of punch lists and 'as-built' drawings.
- Lead projects and coordinate multi-disciplinary tasks, fostering collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding project progress, status updates, scope, timelines, and budget considerations.
- Monitor deliverables, technical contributions, and resolution of comments. Manage workload across multiple projects within allocated hours.
- Participate in project decision-making related to technical strategies, costs, and scheduling performance.
- Regularly review project schedules to identify delays or deviations. Monitor budgets and fees, proactively reporting issues to relevant department managers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Over 10 years of experience in engineering and operations within the chemical or refinery sectors.
- At least 5 years of experience in project management.
- Preferred experience in heavy piping design implementation.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, Office Suite, and SAP is required.
- Familiarity with API, ASME, and other pertinent industry standards.
