Role Summary

As a Structures Technician Sr. at Blue Origin, you will play a critical role in the development of reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. You will be part of a hardworking team of technicians and engineers who are passionate about building human-rated lunar landers that can land on the moon.

Key Responsibilities

Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment.
Assist with transition from development to production, including first articles.
Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections to engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control.
Operate various material handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, and other ground support equipment as required.
Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical measuring instruments.

Requirements

10+ years' experience in aerospace or related fields.
Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate differing opinions in a collaborative environment without conflict among other team members.
Ability to use standard mechanical tools, fabrication shop equipment, and the capability to drill and prepare close tolerance holes for fastener installation is required.
A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integration.
Knowledge in the use of 3-D CAD tools to view models for assembly.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and standards.
Ability to support Friday, Saturday, Sunday 12 hrs and additional weekend overtime as requested.
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and vehicle integration.
Experience with composite and metallic structure fabrication, such as precision drilling, cutting, and assembly.
Experience with hand drilling and power feed drills.
Experience operating heavy lifting equipment, such as cranes and forklifts, around flight-critical hardware.
Familiarity with tooling jigs.
