Job Summary
As a key member of the Atrium Health team, the Floor Maintenance Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position is responsible for performing routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, as well as cleaning walls, windows, and other surfaces.Essential Functions
- Supply all units and departments with clean linens, ensuring a consistent and high-quality service.
- Vacuum, dust mop, and wet mop corridors, elevators, cafeterias, and public areas, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Extract and spot clean carpets using approved systems, ensuring a high level of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Mop, strip, burnish, buff, and refinish hard surface floors, maintaining a high level of shine and cleanliness.
- Clean elevators and elevator tracks, ensuring a safe and clean environment for users.
- Clean windows, walls, shower tile, and other surfaces as assigned, maintaining a high level of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Assist in cleaning patient rooms, offices, and therapy areas, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Change out and rehang cubicle curtains as needed, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
- Replenish housekeeping supplies, move furniture, set up special functions and meetings, and perform other tasks as assigned.
- Report to the manager or supervisor daily to receive a list of assigned projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
- Transfer linens to all departments in a timely manner, ensuring a consistent and high-quality service.
- Sort and restock clean linens, maintaining a high level of organization and efficiency.
Physical Requirements
This role requires prolonged periods of walking, standing, and lifting of materials, equipment, and furniture weighing up to 75 pounds. The ability to hear and comprehend instructions is essential, as is visual acuity for operating equipment, mixing chemicals, and inspecting surfaces. Motor skills are required for operating equipment and moving materials through heavily traveled or confined spaces. As a condition of employment, all applicants for this position are required to undergo a physical ability test.Education, Experience, and Certifications
A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
