Kitchen Space Planner

Position Summary: The Kitchen Space Planner plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer experiences while driving sales. This position reports directly to the Customer Experience Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the design process from initial customer interaction to order placement, ensuring:
  • Precise layouts, measurements, and quotations
  • Design alternatives that align with customer budgets, quality standards, and aesthetic preferences
  • Proactive communication with customers to facilitate sales closure
  • Accurate and complete sales orders
  • Clear communication regarding fulfillment timelines to manage customer expectations

Additional Duties:

• Exceed customer expectations through a supportive and knowledgeable approach to encourage repeat and referral business.
• Become proficient in the Home Surplus product offerings while understanding how they compare to major competitors.
• Utilize company systems for precise communication and enhanced process efficiency.
• Collect competitive insights and customer feedback, relaying this information to management to promote continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with team members across various functions to ensure outstanding customer service and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications:

• Experience with design software such as 2020 or similar for space planning and visualization.
• Excellent listening skills.
• Friendly demeanor with a passion for customer interaction.
• Ability to ask relevant questions to create effective designs.
• Detail-oriented with strong follow-through capabilities.
• Enthusiastic team player.
• Consistent, reliable, and organized.
• Professional presentation with strong verbal and above-average written communication skills.
• Exhibits a balance of confidence and humility, taking ownership of mistakes and seeking assistance when needed.
• Moderate creativity paired with a willingness to adhere to established sales processes.
• Familiarity with kitchen fixtures and basic residential construction knowledge.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Flexibility to work according to departmental and store needs.
• Ability to work some Saturdays in line with traditional retail hours.
• Proficient in English; fluency in additional languages is a plus.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

Work is conducted in a showroom/warehouse retail environment during standard business hours. Physical requirements include:

• Extended periods at a desktop computer.
• Prolonged standing.
• Effective communication in person, over the phone, and via video.
• Occasional travel to measure properties.
