Responsibilities:
- Perform sizing calculations for various control systems components, including valves, pressure regulators, meters, and safety devices.
- Develop essential documentation such as instrument datasheets, indexes, I/O lists, cable schedules, cause-and-effect charts, and safety analysis documents.
- Specify industry-standard instrumentation for measuring pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
- Review process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) from an instrumentation and controls perspective, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Lead design and drafting teams to produce detailed instrumentation drawings, including wiring diagrams, installation details, junction box layouts, PLC panel arrangements, and bill of materials.
- Evaluate vendor packages for compliance with project standards and expectations.
- Generate facility control narratives for projects requiring this documentation.
- Participate in factory acceptance tests (FATs) for control systems, providing technical insights and ensuring system functionality.
- Contribute to HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) reviews, identifying potential hazards and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Conduct technical bid evaluations for projects involving instrumentation and controls systems.
- Proactively identify out-of-scope activities and communicate with management to ensure project scope clarity.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
- 5-15 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering within the Oil, Gas, or Renewable Energy sectors.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software tools such as Fisher Valve Specification Manager, Emerson PRV2Size, and FE-Sizer is highly advantageous.
- EIT or P.E. Licenses are preferred but not required.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards such as API 520, 521, 12F, and AGA No. 3.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, flexibility, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to solve problems creatively, efficiently, and maintain up-to-date technical knowledge.
