Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Special Service for Groups, Inc. (SSG). This is a full-time position that requires a Master's degree in social work or a related field and licensure as a Registered Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist intern.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individual, couples, and family therapy services, including intake assessments, treatment development, and weekly psychotherapy sessions. They will also conduct bio-psychosocial assessments with clients and develop recovery plans of action. Additionally, the Mental Health Specialist will establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients and their families, assist them in understanding mental illness, and promote participation in recovery and psychiatric treatment recommendations.

This role involves coordinating and implementing group therapy under the supervision of a Clinical Supervisor. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be comfortable working with high-need/high-barrier adult populations, and possess a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, couples, and family therapy services
  • Conduct bio-psychosocial assessments and develop recovery plans
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients and families
  • Coordinate and implement group therapy
  • Assist clients and families in understanding mental illness and promoting participation in recovery and treatment recommendations

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Licensure as a Registered Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist intern
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination (includes eligible booster/s)
  • Valid California Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance coverage
  • Avoidance of any type of legal supervision (probation or parole)

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary of $62,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and optional vision plans, as well as a retirement plan and employee assistance program. Paid time off, vacation, and sick leave are also provided, along with mileage reimbursement.
