About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia's Schiffert Health Center. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective medical care and health promotion for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties associated with a clinical laboratory, including phlebotomy and specimen processing.
  • Provide accurate and prompt reports to Schiffert Health Center staff and maintain a courteous and professional attitude towards patients.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Technologist Senior to develop and implement laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of a developmental plan with opportunities for advancement within the Department and the Division.
Requirements
  • ASCP certification and registry with an accredited agency.
  • CLIA or COLA Deemed Status standards are acceptable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of methodologies in all laboratory sections and proper technique in all phases of laboratory science.
  • Previous experience performing phlebotomy and processing/preparing specimens according to established procedures.
  • Previous experience with complex proficiency testing and laboratory analysis as per CLIA requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot instruments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a complex lab environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with laboratory software programs.
