About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Avera McKennan Hospital. As a Nurse Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to and provide medical-forensic services to patients of all ages who present with reports of sexual assault/violence.
  • Operate independently in medical-forensic exams for patients aged 14 and above, and assist a provider with exams for pediatric patients.
  • Act as a mentor to end-site clinicians and provide guidance and direction in patient care and support.
Requirements
  • Ability to pass national background and sex offender screenings, as well as state child abuse and neglect screenings.
  • Completion of Child Abuse & Dependent Adult Abuse courses for Iowa Mandatory Reporters within 90 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter.
  • 2 years of nursing experience in Critical Care/ED/Women's Center or prior SANE experience.
  • Tele-health experience preferred.
  • Completion of clinical SANE training.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety and health standards.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and the neurobiology of trauma.
Licensure and Certification
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Dakota or meeting the enhanced Nursing Compact Licensure (eNLC) requirements.
  • Completion of 40-hour didactic training with an IAFN-recognized SANE training program.
  • Current CPR, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certification.
Work Schedule
  • Day/Night Shifts: 7:00am-7:30pm, 7:00pm-07:30am; PRN (as needed).
  • Occasional weekends, holidays, and on-call.
Compensation

The hourly range for this position is $46.50 per hour, dependent on experience.
