The Mild-Moderate Special Education Instructor, guided by the Special Education Program Administrator, is dedicated to delivering exceptional educational services to students with special needs, spanning from kindergarten through grade 12. This role emphasizes collaborative efforts in the design and execution of tailored student programs, which include specialized instruction, tutoring support, and consultation with general education colleagues.
Position Overview:
• Contract Duration: 39 Weeks (9 months)
• Number of Positions Available: 3
• Weekly Hours: 37.5 hours
• Work Schedule: Day Shift - Monday to Friday
Compensation Package:
* Total Travel Package = $2,525/week
* This amount is contingent upon meeting position qualifications and allowances, encompassing both taxable wages and allowances.

- Minimum 1 year of experience in educational settings
- Mild/Moderate Special Education Credential
- Elementary/Secondary Teaching Certification
- Caseload: Maximum of 28 students
- Develops individualized education plans in collaboration with parents and team members.
- Facilitates learning for students with diverse learning, emotional, and physical challenges.
- Creates instructional materials that align with the general education curriculum for both individual and small group settings.
- Collaborates with parents, administrators, and specialists to formulate educational strategies that enhance students' overall development.
- Prepares classroom environments and resources for effective learning experiences.
- Acts as the primary coordinator for the implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) alongside general education staff.
- Monitors and assesses student progress, participating in the review and adjustment of IEPs as necessary.
- Maintains comprehensive and accurate student records.
- Provides mentorship and guidance to teaching assistants supporting students with disabilities.
- Assists students in preparing for transitions between grades and developing essential life skills.
- Evaluates students' abilities and educational needs, tracking their performance over time.
- Engages in discussions regarding student progress with other educators.
- Maintains open communication to foster positive relationships with students and their families.
- Adheres to district policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification as mandated by state and district regulations.
- At least one year of experience in an educational environment is preferred.
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching is preferred.
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching is preferred.
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching is preferred.
- Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) is preferred.
- Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR certification if applicable.
- TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
- Must fulfill all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to the job site.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate information to and from relevant individuals, including supervisors and colleagues, with proficiency in the English language.
- Computer proficiency is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
