Job Title: Maintenance Technician - Highview and Castle Manor

Bernstein Management Corporation (BMC) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Highview and Castle Manor properties in NW DC. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our residential properties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC units, and other building systems
  • Inspect and diagnose machine malfunctions, and perform repairs and replacements as needed
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment
  • Perform general cleaning functions, and report any conditions requiring maintenance or cleaning to the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools
  • Install equipment to improve the energy or operational efficiency of residential or commercial buildings
  • Maintain curb appeal and provide grounds keeping services, such as landscaping and snow removal
  • Refurbish vacancies within the time limit prescribed by the Maintenance Supervisor, minimizing turnaround time on vacant units
  • Handle resident service requests within the timetable prescribed by the Resident Manager
  • Implement the company's Preventive Maintenance Program
  • Coordinate sub-contractors' work that may be required, and inspect the completed subcontractors' work
  • Maintain shops, storage areas, etc. in a neat and organized manner
  • Inspect building daily for light bulb replacement, life and safety issues, and any hazards
  • Pick up supplies and run work-related errands for the Manager
  • Perform on-call duties after hours, at assigned property and/or neighboring properties, as needed, on a rotational basis, based on business needs
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • Two to four years previous experience in maintenance and repair
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
  • Ability to multi-task and follow through
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to actively listen to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others
  • Ability to work effectively as a team contributor on applicable assignments
  • Ability to respond to others' needs in a timely and courteous manner
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree (two-year college or technical school)
  • CAMT
  • HVAC Certification
