Job Summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Network Operation Technician to join our team in the Network Operations Center department. This role involves installing, maintaining, modifying, testing, and repairing computer systems and information networks. The successful candidate will design, analyze, test, modify, document, and maintain complex network-based systems, ensuring system security is maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, build, operate, and maintain networks to ensure high-quality performance and availability.
  • Coordinate and oversee the deployment of new hardware, software, circuits, and fiber paths, ensuring seamless integration and minimal downtime.
  • Perform thorough testing using specialized optical testing tools and monitoring software to identify and address any issues or concerns.
  • Monitor network health and availability using monitoring software to ensure prompt resolution of any issues.
  • Provide expert analysis and recommendations for equipment failures, determining the cause and recommending corrective actions.
  • Use test, measurement, and diagnostic skills/equipment to identify the cause of malfunctions and determine the category of maintenance required.
  • Restore services in a timely manner to minimize downtime and impact on users.
  • Assist in establishing work standards, methods, and controls for preventative and unscheduled maintenance actions.
  • Provide technical expertise in closing work orders and tickets.
Qualifications
  • High School or equivalent and 6 years of related experience.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and other technical equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
